We are realizing a long-term dream
to be able to look after our own guests!
We have both been in the hospitality industry since leaving school, and worked in well known Hotels and Restaurants in the UK. A 30 year career developing recipes and inspiring major Supermarkets with top quality products has also been a career highlight. We are both passionate about exceeding our guests expectations, as well as using the amazing ingredients and products Normandy has to offer.
We bought the property in 2006, and now live in Normandy, having moved here in December 2020, and feel we are lucky to be in such an interesting, beautiful and ideal location. We feel we are ready to combine our growing admiration for the area, and our extensive catering experience to provide our guests with a unique and rewarding stay, Sante!!!!

Things To Do
Mont Saint Michel
Mont Saint Michel lies at the border of Normandy and Brittany.
The history of this tidal Island begins in the year 708 AD, when legend has it, a Bishop Aubert was visited by a vision of Arch Angel Michael, and called to erect a church on the Island, hence the name!
Monks settled on the Island in 966 AD, the new church being built before the year 1000 AD.
In the 11th century architect William Volpiano built the Romanesque Abbey, then becoming a place of pilgrimage for Christians – also becoming a centre for Medieval culture.
In the 14th century and the 100 years’ war with the English, meant new military fortifications were installed.
In the 16th century its popularity waned as the Reformation hit Europe – by the time the French Revolution started barely any monks lived/worshipped on the Island. During this time, it was closed and turned into a prison.
In the 1830’s important historical figures including Victor Hugo came together to fight to restore Mont Saint Michel to its former glory.
The prison closed in 1863 and was declared a historical monument in 1874.
A lot of work was required to restore it, in 1878 the causeway was built, and a tramway to bring over the tourists.
During the 2nd world war, the German soldiers occupied Mont Saint Michel, where they used St Auburn church as a look out post. From July 1940 until the end of the occupation it was a major attraction for tourists and soldiers.
In the late 1960’s a small group of Benedictine monks took up residence.
In 1979 it was named UNESCO World Heritage Site, being credited with its natural man made and architectural significance.
The new barrage to protect the flow of water around the bay and prevent the build-up of sediment started in 2009. The car park being moved 2.5km away, and a free shuttle bus or horse drawn carriage can take you the short journey.
The best time to go is in the evening, less crowded, parking is cheaper, and you can catch a great sunset picture too!
Close to 3 million people visit this iconic site every year!
